KINGSTON, Jamaica — Jamaica Labour Party (JLP) candidate for the St Andrew North Western March 5 by-election, Nigel Clarke completed his nomination at 1:17pm at the Pembroke Hall Community Centre in the constituency today.

Clarke's nomination fee was paid with 30 $100 bills and was handed over by Councillor of the Chancery Hall Division, Dwayne Smith.

Clarke said he was confident that the seat would once again be occupied by the JLP.

Clarke will be going up against the People's National Party (PNP) candidate Keisha Hayle who was nominated a few hours earlier.

The seat, which has been held by the JLP for 29 years, was left vacant by the retirement of former Member of Parliament Derrick Smith.

A total of 112 polling stations across 21 voting locations will be used in St Andrew North Western.

The law requires that nomination day be at least five clear days after the announcement of an election; and election day, a minimum of 16 and a maximum of 23 days after nomination day.
