The internet seems to be the place nowadays to seek dating opportunities, and with the wealth of background scrutiny promised, you shouldn't have a fear with credible sites. But online cons are everywhere, and so you have to be careful about being attracted to a profile and not an actual character.

Although these dating sites assure you that they have done relevant checks, it is still your responsibility to do some investigation so you don't get catfished. How can you tell if your online lover is a liar?

Look for consistency

Use Google to your advantage and back up the information given on the profile. If it's inconsistent, that should be tour first red flag.

Too good to be true?

No one is perfect, so if he comes across as your knight in shining armour, caution yourself as you could be baiting a catfish. No man is perfect, not one.

Planning marriage on the first interaction

You need to avoid this trap at all costs. The person is simply trying to make you emotionally tied in deception. You cannot meet someone on the internet in a day and already you are in a relationship and planning marriage. Do not get caught in this net.
